# Test Payments in Smart Collect

> You can create and manage your Customer Identifiers in test mode before you start making and receiving actual transactions.

To generate Test Keys for API:

    Log in to the Dashboard.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step 2">
    Select the **Test Mode** from menu ribbon.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step 3">
    Navigate to **Settings** > **API Keys**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step 4">
    Click **Generate Test Key**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step 5">
    Click **Download Key Details** and save the Test Key details on your system.
  </Step>

## Test Payments

Test payments can be initiated towards any Customer Identifier created in test mode, via the `Make Test Payment` option on your Dashboard. This option will trigger the webhook notifications similar to the live payment made via NEFT/IMPS/RTGS.
